He listened to my ideas for my fiance's engagement ring and crafted it beautifully. Fits perfectly and I couldn't wish for a more beautiful ring, full of love and craftsmanship. Very pretty. He was able to turn my Thai yellow gold rings/broken chains inherited from my mum into two beautiful sentimental wedding bands. One to match my engagement ring shape/colour and a rose gold for my partner. We were also able to pay with the left over gold and even got cash back. Bonus he resized my engagement ring for free. He co-designed a beautiful, unique ring with/for me - listening to my ideas, preferences. The ring gets many compliments (not the plan but a reflection on it's unique, pretty nature). If so, there is no other place you should go for a meaningful piece of jewellery than to Mark and his team at the Diamond Studio in Mairangi Bay. I put Mark through the w(ring)er in terms of projects: I was picky, I had demands, I wanted this metal used for that from this old heirloom, ad infinitum. He had his work cut out for him, unlike the gems I got him to cut. And even in the face of adversity, he (and his team, when he wasn’t directly available, which most of the time he was) pushed through and put in more work and dedication than any other jeweller I’ve dealt with before. These rings pictured are my wedding band (silver w/ onyx) and my wife’s wedding band (gold w/ lab grown diamonds) with spacer ring to create a stack. And, as you can see, they turned out phenomenally. You can check out his website for everything he does, that’s not my job, but me and my (now) wife could not be happier. There is one thing we are disappointed about in this whole process: the fact we didn’t contact the Diamond Studio for our engagement ring, because it would have been so much better. Our History:

Trained in South Africa in the early 1980’s, Mark Peddie was awarded an Emma Smith Scholarship in 1981 and 1982, and won the prestigious South African Jewellers Association Prize for the Top Jewellery Design Student in 1983.

He went into business in Durban – setting up a design studio in Florida Road, one of the premier shopping precincts in the city – and was later named as Official Supplier of Precious Memorabilia to Rugby World Cup 1995. This highly successful business remained in operation until he emigrated to New Zealand in 1998, and he is now the principle jeweller and owner of Diamond Studio, Auckland – Jewellers in Mairangi Bay, North Shore, Auckland..
